Fort Augustus Abbey was inhabited until recently by
Benedictine Monks.
This superb 19th century building is being sympathetically restored
and converted into distinctive holiday apartments.
In stands in 20 acres of beautiful garden grounds at the southern
end of Loch Ness. Our apartment has been fitted out to a very high
specification and is perfectly situated to take advantage of all
that a Highland break can offer ... |
| |
|
 |
Our apartment is in phase one of a two-part renovation project
of the abbey. Phase one is completed but phase two will
continue for a year or so. Both phase are separate, so our
guests should not be unduly concerned about being disturbed by
renovation work in other areas of the building. |

Just a few yards from the apartment you can quite literally dip
your toe into Loch Ness (be careful of the monster though)! You can
stroll around the beautiful gardens, relax on the acres of lawn,
walk along tree lined paths and won Victorian steps to the water's
edge - all without leaving the abbey's grounds. We believe you would
be hard pressed to beat this unique and romantic setting. It's what
dreams are made of! |

The abbey is surrounded on three sides by the Caledonian canal,
the river Tarff and of course Loch Ness. Fort Augustus itself
has a number of excellent pubs, restaurants, cafes, gift shops,
take-aways, a supermarket and a fine butcher selling local produce. |

The views from all sides in Fort Augustus are quite simply
stunning. In the village centre where Loch Ness meets the
Caledonian Canal there is a wonderful lock system where you can sit
and pass the time watching the boats coming and going throughout the
day. |

There are endless things to do in the Scottish
Highlands; superb walks, fishing, skiing, climbing, bird watching,
the list is endless and can cater for all ages and levels of
fitness.
While those who prefer a more laid-back approach to their holidays
can take a boat trip from Fort Augustus to Inverness and take in the
sights of Urquhart Castle, Ben Nevis, Fort William and maybe stop
off and visit a whiskey distillery or two. |
